Lilibet has been the Queen's nickname among her family members since she was a young child. The move has been interpreted in some quarters as an attempt by the couple to 'reach out' to Harry's family after months of turmoil.

But a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told the BBC that Harry had spoken to the Queen before the birth - and he "would have mentioned" the name.
