Prince Andrew is under renewed pressure to speak to the FBI, after Jeffrey Epstein’s lawyer refused to deny that his client paid a teenager to have sex with the royal.
Epstein’s attorney, Alan Dershowitz, is alleged to have said “I have no idea” when asked if the paedophile’s “sex slave”, Virginia Giuffre, was paid to sleep with Prince Andrew when she was 17.
The claims are made in a book by Bradley Edwards, a lawyer representing more than 20 alleged victims of the disgraced financier.
Edwards details how he took a formal statement from Dershowitz about Giuffre’s claims. Giuffre alleges Epstein paid her $15,000 (£12,875) after he loaned her out for sex to his friend Andrew in 2001.
