Anna Marie de la Fuente Prime Video has wrapped its most ambitious action thriller in Latin America. Produced by Pablo Cruz of transatlantic production company El Estudio, “A Billion to One” stars two of Mexico’s biggest stars, Omar Chaparro (“No Manches Frida”) and Alejandro Speitzer (“Someone Has to Die”).

At the core of the pic are Carlos (Chaparro) and Miguel (Speitzer), best friends and elite soldiers in the Mexican special forces.

Their lives take a turn when Carlos witnesses the brutal murder of his wife. Consumed by grief and a thirst for justice, Carlos, with Miguel by his side, embarks on a perilous quest for revenge, armed with a life-changing lottery ticket and unwavering grit. “This project represents a significant milestone for our local productions, and we are excited to continue our great relationship with El Estudio, as well as to have such talented actors as our cast to bring this story to audiences worldwide,” said Alonso Aguilar, head of original content for Prime Video in Mexico.

The feature debut of lauded commercials director Rodrigo Valdés, the thriller is set against the dramatic landscapes of Mexico and features large-scale production values, multiple special effects and a notable cast that includes Paola Núñez, Natalia Solián, Gustavo Sánchez Parra and Luis Alberti. “It’s been a challenge and a pleasure to experiment with this fun mix of genres and wrap it in Mexico and its characters,” said Valdés who is known for his action-packed ads and has recently worked as a second-unit director in the upcoming Eddie Murphy crime-busting comedy “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” “Mexico is one of the countries that watches the most action on screens and in all media, but why don’t we as Mexican filmmakers do.
