The race for the Golden Boot resumes this week now the Premier League’s three-month enforced break is over. The award, won by the player(s) who scores the most goals in a single league season has been around since the first Premier League season in 1992/93.
Teddy Sheringham - then at Nottingham Forest - emerged victorious that season with 22 goals. Since then another 22 players have won the Golden Boot, with the prize being shared on four occasions.
Last season, three players - Arsenal ’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool due Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah - ended the season as the league’s top scorers, with 22 goals each.
