Joelinton, Newcastle's Brazilian midfielder, has made a heartfelt plea for privacy and safety on Instagram, after experiencing another break-in at his family home in an area known locally as Millionaire's Row.The distressing incident occurred on Thursday night at his Darras Hall home in Ponteland, about 20 minutes from Newcastle, during the current international break.
It was the second burglary within a year and follows a series of high-profile break-ins at homes of the likes of Jack Grealish and Raheem Stirling.The midfielder, whose full name is Joelinton Cássio Apolinário de Lira, released a statement on his Instagram today, appealing to anyone considering anything similar to let him and his family "live in peace".This second break-in follows an earlier incident in January this year, when his home was targeted by three men while Joelinton was at St James' Park for a match against Manchester City.
At the time, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Thankfully the homeowner was not home but had received a security alert on their phone and immediately reported concerns to police." Officers were sent to the house, but there was no-one in side, the force said.
Writing today on his social media, the Brazilian sportsman said: "Our home was broken into again.To anyone considering doing this: Please know that there is nothing valuable left here!
