Premier League chiefs will delay their shareholders meeting until after the Prime Minister’s speech next Sunday. Boris Johnson is expected to outline the ways in which he intends to "unlock the various parts of the UK economy”.
He had been expected to speak on Thursday, in time for the Premier League’s latest meeting 24 hours later. Instead the meeting could now take place next Monday.
It is widely thought that the top flight will take its cue from the government’s position on whether to press ahead with their Project Restart plan to finish the season from next month.
Should that happen the games will take place at neutral venues as the government has made clear to clubs that it will not approve matches at their home stadia.
