Portugal may not be removed from the quarantine list until the end of August - despite hopes it could be removed sooner. Brits returning from the popular destination must self-isolate for 14 days, in a blow to many holidaymakers.

But while it could be announced soon that the country is set to be removed from the list, it may not actually happen until the end of August, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

It comes as officials have warned that France may be removed from the safe list this week amid a rise in coronavirus cases. But it may take a while to reinstate quarantine- free travel to Portugal, a source has claimed.
