The cost of a flight from the UK to Portugal rapidly shot up last night after it was announced that the country was being removed from the UK's quarantine list.
Tickets have increased by 500 per cent in some cases, with some return flights being advertised at more than £1,000. The announcement means families can squeeze in a foreign holiday abroad before their children are set to head to school in September.
But some tickets to Faro - where passengers can then head to the Algarve - jumped from £35 to £190 last night. One website showed a BA flight from London to Faro had gone up sixfold - with the price jumping from £90 to £580 - with a claim it had been reduced from £594 - in a day, according to Daily Mail.
