Popular takeaway launches 'Calum Box' to raise funds for four-year-old battling cancer

A popular Ayrshire takeaway has put on a unique tasty special to raise cash for a four-year-old battling cancer. Scran in Troon are well known for their mega munchies with dishes like breakfast nachos and loaded fries going down a treat in the town.

This week they've dedicated their latest creation to brave Calum Rae whose family desperately need £250,000 to give him the best chance of surviving stage neuroblastoma.The 'Calum box' features a zinger-style tower burger topped with hash brown, cheddar cheese & spicy salsa, served with a side of seasoned fries popcorn chicken & American style gravy.The takeaway based at Portland Park told customers they would donate 30 per cent of profits from the Calum Box to online fundraising page set up by Calum's family.Last week Ayrshire Live told how Calum's mum Victoria MacDonald "couldn't cope" with the thought of losing her son after she was told the devastating news by doctors in March, after chickenpox symptoms wouldn't go away.Calum is currently undergoing waves of treatment including chemotherapy with radiotherapy, stem cell transplants and immunotherapy to follow.Calum is in a race to get into remission so he can qualify for a miracle vaccine drug which is being trialled at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.The treatment including trips to the Big Apple are set to cost the family £250,000.An online fundraiser was set up by Victoria McDonald and partner Andrew Rae in a bid to meet the target.So far they have managed to raise £56,718 towards Calum's treatment.Scran announced they were putting on the special to give Calum the "treatment he deserves."
