Plans are in place to close one of Ayr’s best-known hotels - and turn it into three luxury homes. The Glenpark Hotel, on Racecourse Road, is facing closure after plans were submitted to make alterations to the venue and change its use.

According to a planning application on the South Ayrshire Council online planning portal, proposals are in place to turn the hotel, built in the 1860s, into three homes. The agent in the proposals is Kilmarnock-based NR Weston Limited, while the applicant is Muir Fulton, of Maze Property Scotland Limited.

According to planning papers, Ms Anne Rossi possesses the land ownership certificate for the Grade B-listed building. It was also home to the Ayr Brewing Company Ltd who until recently were based there before confirming on their social media feed that the hotel was up for sale.Their post stated: “Due to the Glenpark Hotel being up for sale, we’ve decided it’s the right time for us to move out and we’re now out of production for the rest of the year.“The online and brewery shop will continue to operate and we have enough stock to last for several months, so grab your favourites while you can!

As always, massive thanks to our customers and supporters.”News of the planning development will come as a big blow to patrons living near the local area, especially those who frequented the Glenpark Hotel for their delicious home-made pizzas and other food, craft beers and to enjoy venue’s spacious beer garden.
