Police have issued a warning after victims lost thousands of pounds in a Facebook scam.Officers from GMP have seen a 'surge of reports' of people being contacted by fraudsters who have posed as their friends to get money paid into their account.Nationally, there have been 95 victims who have lost £44,000 to this scam.The fraudsters have contacted the victims, saying they have sold cameras on eBay, but that they cannot process the payments as they do not have a PayPal account or that their account doesn't work.They have asked to pay the money into the victims' accounts instead, so it can then be transferred into their own account."If the victim agrees, the payment is transferred into their PayPal account, but, after the money is transferred.
