Police warning following reports man is scamming people in Stockport by pretending his father is sick

Police have issued a warning following reports a man has been scamming people by pretending his father is sick in hospital. The man, thought to be in his 50s, was asking for money from people on Finney Lane, in Heald Green, Stockport.

He told victims he needed money to see his father in hospital, who had recently suffered a heart attack. Officers warned the method has been used by scammers many times in the Greater Manchester area and told people to be careful who they hand over their money to.
