Police threatened with a knife as man arrested for armed robbery

Officers were threatened by a suspected robber with a knife after they caught him running from a business in Tameside. Police were on patrol in Dukinfield last night, December 7, when they witnessed a man in all dark clothing fleeing from an address on King Street.

The officers chased after him, during which the man turned around and threatened them with a knife, GMP have said. Thankfully no injuries were reported. DCI Abdul Kahar of the Tameside district said: “This was an excellent arrest and I am very proud of the officers involved who reacted quickly and in the interests of keeping the public safe. "Knives have no place on our streets – they bring only violence and misery and we will continue to work tirelessly to remove them and hold any offenders to account.”
