Police step up hunt for pair who blew up machine at Tescos

Police hunting two men who fled empty handed after blowing up a cash machine have appealed for infomation. A cordon was put in place in Sale town centre and bomb disposal experts were scrambled to the ATM outside Tescos after the explosion.

The attempted robbery was at a premises on Hereford Street at around 2.50am on Monday. Police believe the suspects used an 'explosive device' to try and steal from a cash machine.

But they did not get any cash. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. Streets were cordoned off around the town centre,for several hours, including Hereford Street and Springfield Road.
