Police shut road for hours with air ambulance called after major crash

manchestereveningnews.co.ukPolice taped off a number of roads near a popular beauty spot after a crash involving a male cyclist and a van. The incident took place on New Road, Anderton, yesterday and caused further closures on Horrobin Lane and Rivington Lane, in Rivington.
Lancs Live reports that the crash happened around 5.41pm but the area was shut off for hours while police and paramedics dealt with the incident.
Lancashire Police said the road was 'likely to be closed for sometime' and urged other motorists to avoid the area. The cyclist suffered a suspected serious leg injury.
An air ambulance was called to the scene and landed at 5.46pm. At the time yesterday, a police spokesperson said: "We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on New Road,
