Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction

manchestereveningnews.co.ukPolice have raided the hotel in Argentina where Liam Payne died, according to reports. The One Direction star tragically died last week after falling from a third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires.
The 31-year-old died of multiple traumas and 'internal and external haemorrhage'. Investigations into his death in the Argentine capital are now said to have progressed, with police now reportedly hunting for further information on employees at the hotel, the Mirror reports.
Sources said the hotel 'must provide' more security footage to investigators as well as provide information about staff members. According to US Weekly, police raided the hotel seeking documents within the hotel’s registration books. They are also said to have taken information from the establishment's computers.
