Police have launched an investigation after a hotel was evacuated following a 'bomb threat'. Occupants at the Manchester Airport Stanley Hotel, on Stanley Road in Handforth, were asked to leave as emergency services, including police officers and fire crews, responded to the incident yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
A cordon was put in place at the scene and officers blocked off the road. Cheshire Police said officers were called to 'reports of a bomb threat' at around 3pm.
The hotel was evacuated 'as a precautionary measure'. READ MORE: Police issue appeal after elderly man using walking frame hit by car Police said the threat was deemed to be a hoax and people were allowed back inside the hotel at around 5.30pm.
A probe into the incident has been launched with no arrests made so far. As the incident unfolded yesterday afternoon, one witness reported seeing a 'huge police presence and cordon in place' at the scene, as another saw 'police and security staff on grass verges outside the car park'.
