Police probe as man found dead at home after walking back from pub

Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead at home in Whaley Bridge. The man - aged in his 70s - was found dead at a property on Goyt Road yesterday afternoon (Saturday).

Police are treating his death as 'unexplained'. Officers believe he had visited a number of the pubs in the area on Friday night.

Police are now trying to trace the man's movements before his death, with officers urging anyone who saw a 'man with injuries or something that didn't seem quite right' to get in touch.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in Whaley Bridge as part of their investigations. Detective Inspector Steve Topham, of Derbyshire Police said, said: "At this time we are not treating the death as suspicious, but as unexplained and we are keeping an open mind. "We are working hard to trace the man movements in the last 24 hours before his death, and we would like to hear from anyone who may have noticed a man with injuries or something that didn’t seem quite right."
