Don't wait around for updates - sign up for our daily football email newsletter today!A police officer has been convicted of the manslaughter of the former footballer Dalian Atkinson.Ex-Aston Villa star Atkinson died in August 2016 after being shot with a police taser when officers were called to an incident.PC Benjamin Monk of the West Mercia force, has been convicted of the killing by a jury at Birmingham crown court.Monk was accused of lying in court and of kicking and stamping on Atkinson's head while the former footballer lay on the ground.Monk, 43, was cleared of an alternative charge of murder with a trial at hearing Monk tasered Mr Atkinson for 33 seconds and kicked him twice in the head.Atkinson began his career at Ipswich Town.
