Police have issued an update following the tragic death of ice hockey star Adam Johnson. The 29-year-old, who played for the Nottingham Panthers, tragically died following an incident during a Challenge Cup against the Sheffield Steelers.
The match was swiftly cancelled and his death was confirmed the next morning through a statement from the Panthers who said he had been involved in a "freak accident".
South Yorkshire Police now issued an update into the incident and said the investigation into Adam's death remains ongoing. Officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services and one man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
