The 81-year-old victim was assaulted on Amos Street, behind a row of shops on Langworthy Road, between around 2am and 4am on Sunday, May 27.
The attack caused him to fall and hit his head. He was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. Police said he remains there and he has still not regained full consciousness.
He sadly may not fully recover. Detectives are now issuing a fresh appeal for information about the attack. They particularly want to speak to three males that were spotted at the scene at the time.
