Police are preparing for a weekend of carnage as revellers enjoy the final few hours before new coronavirus rules come into play.

Officers fear large groups of drinkers will run riot across the nation before the stringent laws are rolled out on Monday. Under the new rules, announced by Boris Johnson on Wednesday, groups of more then six people can be dispersed by police who can also dish out £100 fines.

Organisers of any events could be slapped with fines of up to £10,000. The rule changes means many people have had to cancel planned bashes in the future meaning this weekend is the last one where revellers can run wild - especially those in their 20s and 30s.
