Police catch driver speeding at 92mph with bald tyres on icy Ayrshire road

A speeding driver was stopped by police in Ayrshire today after clocking 92mph in icy road conditions.The motorist was caught on the A78 by officers, who then discovered the tyres to be in a dangerous state.Posting an image of one of the wheels on their Twitter account this afternoon, police revealed the bald state in which they found the tyre.They posted: "#AyrshireRP caught a driver doing 92mph on A78 today."When stopped, the tyres were showing ply and cord.

Speed limits aren't optional and are for everyone's safety. "The driver reported @COPFS. We'll continue to reduce the Killed or Seriously Injured figures in Ayrshire."
