On Monday's episode of BBC Homes Under the Hammer (January 13), a Derby couple received an unexpected shock at their Chaddesden property.
Lee and Laura secured the Derby lot for £60,000 at auction, seizing a rare chance when a plot in a sought-after residential area came up, complete with planning permission for a four-bedroom townhouse.
Described as "a developer's dream come true" by show host Dion Dublin, a startling discovery was made during the initial development of the lot.
While laying the foundations, Lee, who runs his own building firm, stumbled upon a hand grenade in the bushes at the rear of the site.
