Pogues tell Laurence Fox to 'f**k off' in heated rant after Fairytale of New York censored

The Pogues have sent a scathing message to actor Laurence Fox after he criticised the BBC for replacing the original lyrics to their famous song, Fairytale of New York.

The Irish band took to Twitter to tell Fox, who recently started the Reclaim Party, to "f**k off" after he publicly hit out at the BBC 's decision to scrap some of their controversial lyrics.

The original track, which the band sang with Kirstie MacColl, contains a homophobic slur which the BBC opted to replace.The slur "f****t" has been exchanged for "haggard", while the term "s*ut" has been muted all-together when played on BBC radio stations.Fox tweeted an announcement of the BBC's decision and wrote: "Here we go again. "The cultural commissars at the  @bbc  are telling.
