Plans for new national cup competition in advanced stages for non-league sides

Scottish Junior FA set to back it to the tune of £80,000. More than 200 clubs across the various non-league levels from Highland League and Lowland League at tier five through to the East, West and South of Scotland would be involved in the tournament which would take the place of the Junior Cup.

SJFA bosses hope to have their proposals rubber stamped in time to begin next season. The Junior Cup is one of the oldest competitions in world football having run since 1886 and this season’s second round takes place later this month.
