Planning application for new Lanarkshire Gaelic school

Proposals have been tabled to build a new Gaelic-medium primary school to serve North Lanarkshire pupils.Council officials have submitted an official planning application seeking permission to construct a standalone building within the grounds of the existing Tollbrae and St Edward’s joint campus in Airdrie.However, even if consent is granted, the authority says that the development of the new school is “unlikely to be achieved in the short term” as no funding is currently available.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

An accompanying location plan shows the proposed site as currently unused space in the school grounds, between the existing building and its sports pitches, towards its Carlisle Road boundary.The submitted application is currently being considered by the authority’s planning department.
