The battle to urge Chancellor Rachel Reeves to hike the income tax personal allowance from £12,570 to £20,000 has hit a pivotal mark.
In a few short days, a crucial petition on the Parliament website has gained significant momentum. Just last week it cleared the crucial 10,000 signature barrier which requires the Treasury to issue a formal response - and since, has accelerated.
As of today, it's now got more than 73,000 signatories, meaning it's on the verge of forcing the issue to be debated in Parliament.
Alan Frost, who initiated the petition, put pressure on the Treasury, arguing: "Raise the income tax personal allowance from £12,570 to £20,000.
