It looks like Netflix is riding the Bridgerton popularity wave as the streaming giant has adapted a Jane Austen classic. Unfortunately, if you were looking for an old fashioned period piece, then you may be disappointed, but not for long.
Netflix has given Jane Austen’s Persuasion a modern facelift. When the news first broke in April, it was unsure if that meant it would be given the bright and brilliant 2020 Emma treatment — or if it will simply be set in the 21st century.
Thankfully, the first look shots of the film have confirmed it’s the former. Dakota Johnson, who rose to fame in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, is starring in the series and it will be directed by theatre giant, Carrie Cracknell as her feature debut.
