Cafés, pubs and restaurants have dished out more than 35,000 meals since the Chancellor's Eat Out to Help Out scheme was launched on August 3.
Almost 50,000 claims have been made for the scheme, which offers diners 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks up to the value of £10 per head.
It runs every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, but is due to end on August 31. Chancellor Rishi Sunak said the 35 million figure "is equivalent to over half of the UK taking part".
However, Sunak is now facing fresh calls for an extension as businesses prepare for a double blow of cuts with furlough due to end this autumn.
