The Yorkshire Vet has been a staple of British television for years, captivating audiences with its veterinary tales. But despite its success, Peter Wright admitted he had his doubts about the show's potential.
He recalled telling Paul Stead, the producer: "We're in series 19 now, we've just celebrated our 200th episode. I did say to Paul Stead, who makes the production and makes the programme, I said, 'Paul, nobody will watch this, you're wasting your money because it's all been done before, all these vet programmes have been done before', so I said it won't work." However, Paul was convinced of the show's impending popularity, a belief that turned out to be spot on.
The star from The Yorkshire Vet also shared: "He [Paul] never ever ceases to remind me what I said! I was proved wrong, I'm never going to forget it." Looking ahead at what viewers can expect, Peter discussed the challenges of keeping up with advancements in veterinary medicine, reports the Express.
He commented: "They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, well our veterinary world is progressing all the time. There's more technology involved and in the practice I work in now, we've just involved a CT scanner and we needed it." With a hint of what's to come in the new episodes, Peter confessed that after 40 years in the field, adapting to such technological changes isn't easy.
