Peter Kay was forced to break his silence after kicking out two hecklers from his chaotic gig at the weekend. One man, who revealed he felt like a “terrorist”, was removed for shouting out “garlic bread” while another woman, who Kay compared to Lisa Riley, was also ejected.

The legendary comedian said he had “no choice” but to ask security to intervene at Manchester's AO Arena because “repeated disruptions" made it “impossible to continue” on Saturday.

His actions caused a mixed response online with some defending the star while others called the Lisa Riley comparison “derogatory”.

It's not the first time Kay has come under fire for a joke. During an iconic TV show several years ago, one line ended up leading to almost 200 official complaints to the BBC.
