Peter Andre has tipped Maya Jama to be the new host of Love Island following Laura Whitmore’s departure. Writing in his column, Pete, 49, said that he is backing presenter Maya, 28, to get the gig.The singer said: “Laura Whitmore has stepped down as the host of Love Island. “She said in a statement, “There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed, some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.” “I thought Laura was a great host, but she’s doing what’s right for her and I really respect that. "There are lots of people who could present the show, but I think Maya Jama would be good. "She looks like she’s just stepped off Love Island!

I also think Holly Willoughby would be great as she’s so much fun and she has so much experience. The show would be in very good hands.” Laura, 37, announced she was leaving the ITV2 dating show last week in a statement on her Instagram.

She shared: “Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love Island. "There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects." She then paid tribute to her late friend and former Love Island host Caroline Flack, who passed away in February 2020. "I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands.

I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. "I hope I did you proud Caroline," Laura concluded her statement alongside a red heart emoji. The rumour mill has been in overdrive ever since Laura’s exit, with fans speculating who could take over the hosting.
