Pete Doherty has undergone "immediate treatment" after developing a high fever and shortness of breath.The Libertines, who married Katia de Vidas in a secret wedding ceremony in September last year, was forced to cancel a string of his UK shows after his health worsened on Thursday night.
In a post shared to his Instagram account, it was revealed that the doctor was quickly called in, and the 42 year old was diagnosed with a respiratory infection. "A doctor has been called to assess Peter's condition tonight after he developed a high fever and shortness of breath," the statement began.
It was continued: "Thankfully, he has tested negative for COVID-19 but has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection which requires immediate treatment. "Unfortunately, he has been advised not to perform tonight under any circumstances, which was not a decision taken lightly, and he remained under close observation with the doctor. "Further updates tomorrow afternoon with regard to the weekend's show," it was concluded.
Pete was set to take the stage at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town on Friday and Saturday.The Babyshambles frontman is also due to perform at various locations across the UK over the next few months before taking on gigs in France, Germany and Holland.
