Thania Garcia Peso Pluma was the reigning champion of the 32nd edition of the BMI Latin Awards held at the Coastal Convention Center in the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami on March 6.
The Mexican hitmaker was presented with the BMI Champion Award for “his undeniable influence on música mexicana, and his revolutionary sound that has resonated with millions of fans worldwide,” as credited by the performing rights organization.
In addition, Peso Pluma was named regional mexican songwriter of the year, an award that Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Edgar Barrera took home for two consecutive years prior.
Tito Double P, who is signed to Peso Pluma’s Double P record label, was honored with the BMI Impact Award for helping pen Peso Pluma’s early career hits, including “El Belicon,” “Siempre Pendientes,” “PRC” and “AMG.” “Thank you for supporting this huge movement in música mexicana, I’m very proud of what we’ve all accomplished together as a team and family,” said Peso Pluma in his acceptance speech.
