Aberfeldy Drama Club (ADC) proved they could pull off a pantomime sensation this Christmas, with their recent production of ‘Aladdin’.The club members performed to full houses every night, on Thursday, December 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10.Post-show jubilation was high as everybody involved both on stage and backstage had worked tirelessly for the last three months, volunteering their time to bring this production to fruition.ADC members agreed it was good to see so many tickets sold: “Aberfeldy is always a brilliant audience, they always get involved,” said director David Roy.“The communities of Aberfeldy and surrounding districts always support the local drama club performances,” said co-director Nicola Stewardson. The 2022 panto was very much a bounce-back experience as due to the recent pandemic, this was the first Christmas performance the club has produced since 2019.The cast clearly enjoyed every minute, with their natural and often improvised interaction with the audience, packed with hilarious local references aplenty. The main roles included ‘Aladdin’ (Niall Campbell); Princess Jasmine (Jenni Penfold); Widow Twankey (Alexander Marshall) and Abanazer (Eve-Marie Shore). The stunning costumes were created by Sandra Batty, Jenny Donaldson and Marjorie Fearn and the striking make-up was created by make-up artist Gayle Olivier. The set was designed and created by Matthew Shore, Sandra Hendry and Rachel Blackshaw.Directors were David Roy and Anna Glover who also directed the music.
