The Perth Platinum Jubilee Run planned for this weekend has been cancelled due to a low number of entries. Organisers Still Going Strong made the announcement on Wednesday and apologised for the decision adding it will “reschedule a similar version” for later in 2022.Fleet-footed runners were set to take part in the 5km run on Saturday afternoon, which would have started and finished on Tay Street. To include families, options were also available for a Family Mile or Toddler Dash. However a spokesperson for Still Going Strong, who previously set up the award-winning Aberfeldy Triathlon, said: “We are sorry and disappointed to have to cancel the Perth Platinum Jubilee Run 2022.“This decision has been taken after careful consideration of several factors which will inhibit our ability to deliver the experience that participants enjoy and expect from one of our events.“The number of entries has been low with the ongoing after-effects of the pandemic, which has sadly made the event unviable.“We remain extremely grateful to Perth and Kinross Council for their support in trying to deliver this event and we are working closely with them to reschedule a similar version later this year.”
