Perth and Kinross councillors have outlined how they would address rising poverty in Perth and Kinross - after a report revealed one in three local people are living in or on the edge of poverty.
The PA approached all four council groups to ask how they would tackle this growing issue. Perth and Kinross Council’s education improvement plan reported around 2800 jobs had been lost during the pandemic.
It said one in three were living in on or “on the edge” of poverty.Just under one in three are in lower paid jobs.Conservative council leader Murray Lyle said: “One of my big challenges is that rural deprivation is not recognised.”He said it was affecting young and old whether it be the single elderly person unable to get their messages or young.
