Joe Otterson TV ReporterFox has formally set its 2022 fall schedule, with the long-gestating country music drama “Monarch” set to make its debut.Fox’s announcements comes two weeks after the broadcaster’s upfront presentation on May 16, whereas other broadcasters announced their schedule the day of their presentation. However, with this announcement Fox is also announcing its fall premiere dates, which other networks have yet to do.The full schedule can be seen below.“Monarch,” which stars Susan Sarandon and Trace Adkins, was originally meant to debut back on January 30 after the NFC Championship game. Fox moved the show to fall approximately two and half weeks before the originally scheduled launch date.

As we reported last month, Fox broke with tradition this year by announcing the bulk of its programming slate for the 2022-23 but not a fall schedule in conjunction with its May 16 upfront presentation. The network continues to be forging its own path by unveiling today its fall grid along with premiere dates, becoming the last broadcast network to release its fall lineup but the first to announce premiere dates.

Next week’s CMA Fest in Nashville will feature hundreds of the hottest acts in Country Music. One thing it will not feature, however, is the Confederate flag.

Like the time traveler hero of NBC’s Quantum Leap, we were transported to two different times with the two presentations on the first day of the upfronts. FOX Entertainment is taking on 2022 with TV shows on everything from country music to crime and cooking. Charlie Collier, the CEO of FOX Entertainment, detailed what's to come on the network, including the previously announced "Monarch," which will star Trace Adkins and Susan Sarandon.  The show is about "three generations of a country music family juggling life's rawest emotions — love and lust, hate and heartache, living in the shadow of your parents and coming-of-age," Collier described before previewing a clip of "Monarch." "MasterChef" Gordon Ramsay is set to debut his new competition show, "Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars," and will also have his series "Next Level Chef" premiere after the Super Bowl next February.  In "Food Stars," Ramsay will front $250,000 of his own cash to find the "next big culinary entrepreneur." The missing persons' drama "tells the story of a high-tech police unit whose job is to find the missing, the abducted or kidnapped and help them reunite with their loved ones before it's too late," Foxx said during the presentation.  FOX is also bringing a crime anthology series titled "Accused." The show hails from the creative minds behind "Homeland" and "24" as well as the creator of "House." Marlee Matlin and Billy Porter will direct the first two episodes.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterDespite the loss of country music drama “Monarch” on the midseason schedule, Fox executive Michael Thorn is still feeling upbeat about the broadcaster’s prospects going into the spring.“Really it’s so far, so good in terms of this midseason coming out of another really positive fall,” said Thorn, the president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment. “So moving ‘Monarch’ to September is obviously moving a big piece out of midseason to next year, but it was really in the best interest of the show and I’m really glad we made that decision.”In particular, Thorn touted the performances of new shows like “The Cleaning Lady,” as well as returning shows like “9-1-1: Lone Star” and “Call Me Kat,” as keeping the network afloat at midseason. “Monarch,” which boasts Susan Sarandon and Trace Adkins among its stars, was originally meant to debut immediately after the NFC Championship game on Jan.

Next Level Chef, the cooking competition series from Gordon Ramsay, is getting a post-football slot in the schedule after Fox pushed drama Monarch to the fall.

Reba, Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney are just a handful of many country music artists who have been forced to put a pause on their tours as the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc around the world. Shelton had just two weekends left of his "Friends and Heroes Tour" before announcing that his final tour stops have been postponed to spring 2021.The final five shows, which were set to feature Lauren Alaina, Trace Adkins and the Bellamy Brothers, have yet to receive exact new dates.
