BBC has removed a social media clip of Billy Nomates performing at Glastonbury after the singer experienced online abuse.Billy Nomates – real name Tor Maries – performed on Glastonbury Festival’s Park Stage on Friday (June 23), but asked BBC6 Music to take down footage of her online because she was receiving an “insane” amount of “personal abuse”.A post that appears to have now been deleted from Maries read: “The level of personal abuse on @bbc6music socials for going to work today is insane. I’ve asked for all footage to be removed.“I know it’s not for everyone what I do.

The BBC has removed from its platforms footage of a Glastonbury musician who complained of the abuse she received following her performance.

Billy Nomates has announced details of her second album,’CACTI’, and is previewing it with first single ‘Balance Is Gone’.The new record, which follows a debut album from 2020 and last year’s follow-up EP ‘Emergency Telephone’, is released on January 13, 2023 via the Invada label.Speaking of the process of writing the new album, Billy Nomates – aka Tor Maries – said: “Writing ‘CACTI’ took just over a year. I wrote very intensely and then none at all. (This seems to be the way I work best).“I picked up old drum machines, mapped out things in my kitchen with the same small micro keyboard I always use and then raided the cupboards and rooms at Invada Studios, to play and experiment with old synths, an upright piano, this weird organ thing.

Billy Nomates aka Tor Maries has today (April 12) shared an emotive new single – listen to ‘Blue Bones’ below.The track comes accompanied by a new video that is directed by Tia Salisbury and features comedian Spencer Jones. It’s described as “a humorous yet emotional video about coming to the end of a relationship.”Speaking about the new track, Maries said it’s related to her experience of suffering from depression.Maries explained: “Like everything I write, after I’ve written it I spend the following months unravelling what it’s about.“I think ‘Blue Bones’ is a candid conversation with my own depression.
