Having won an Emmy for lead actress in a drama — for her role as Toda Mariko in FX’s “Shōgun” — she became the first actor of Asian descent ever to win in the category, one of a record-breaking 18 total trophies for the drama’s first season. But the New Zealand-born Sawai had only so much time to enjoy that Emmys high: She had to report back to work in Australia, where she speaks with Variety over Zoom while shooting Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” in which she stars (alongside Godzilla, of course) in the lead role of Cate Randa.

Pachinko star Jin Ha, who portrays Solomon Baek in the sweeping historical fiction series adapted from Min Jin Lee’s best-selling novel, got to venture into a more comedic role as in the upcoming season of Only Murders in the Building.

The second season of Apple TV+’s Pachinko arrives more than two years after the first season was released on the streamer. Based on the best-selling book by Min Jin Lee, the multi-generational family saga follows Sunja (Minha Kim) as she moves from Korea to Japan and starts a family that endures through World War II and more.

Pachinko star Kim Min-ha has opened up about what the second season of the Apple TV+ K-drama has in store for viewers.In a new interview with Deadline, the South Korean actress teased what viewers can expect from the much-anticipated continuation of the hit K-drama series. Kim played the teenaged version of the shows main character Kim Sunja, whose adult version is portrayed by Oscar-winning actress Youn Yuh-jung.“[Sunja will] become stronger, even though there are so many burdens on her shoulders,” Kim hinted.

He returns to his roots, reconnecting with his father Mozasu (Soji Arai), owner of a pachinko game parlor, and grandmother Sunja (Youn Yuh-jung), with a lens on the younger Sunja  (Minha Kim and Jeon Yuna), who leaves everything behind for a new life in Japan, a country that wants no part of her.Based on Min Jin Lee’s rich novel, the show, which premieres March 25 on Apple TV Plus, has been adapted by series creator Soo Hugh, who scripted the title sequence into her drafts.
