Fans target Adebayo Akinfenwa with sick chants which forced match to be stopped
Adebayo Akinfenwa. The veteran striker started the League One clash on the bench but was subjected to the vile abuse as he began to warm up on the side of the pitch during the first half.In response, Akinfenwa walked over to the Dons fans to confront them and was seen exchanging a few heated words.Shortly after, the stadium tannoy system called for fans stop the abuse, but the chants only intensified, despite a plea from MK Dons' twitter account urging supporters to "refrain from singing that chant" and to "get behind the boys" instead.Enraged Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth spoke to the referee, who immediately called a halt to proceedings.According to reports, one supporter was ejected from the stands following the incident.Despite the ugliness, Akinfenwa was seen in high spirits at half time as he posed for pictures with a few youngsters.Play later resumed and MK Dons ran out 1-0 winners, thanks to a first-half goal scored by Scott Twine. The win sees them leapfrog Wycombe into fourth place in the League One standings.Want to be on the ball with all of the latest football news?Well then sign up for the brilliant Daily Star football email newsletter! From the latest transfer news to the agenda-setting stories, get it all in your email inbox - don't miss a thing. It only takes a matter of seconds.Simply type your email address into the box at the top of this article and hit 'subscribe'.And that's it, job done.
