Grantchester is returning to our TV screens tonight (March 11) after a five-month wait for fans up and down the country. The seventh season will start at the end of the 1950s but even with a new decade approaching, there are still crimes to be solved.

The second instalment of series eight kicked off with a bang on Thursday evening ( 18 January) and saw Reverend Will Davenport, played by Tom Brittney, accidentally kill someone while riding his motorcycle, a crime which very nearly saw him charged with murder. During the thrilling episode, fans were anxiously poised on the edge of their seats as they saw Will interrogated by the police over the incident and perhaps even facing a life behind bars! As the intense line of questioning took place - which even reduced Will to tears - fans of the show were quick to share their thoughts on social media, including their heartache at the thought of losing such a beloved character.
