Tony Ganios, Star of ‘Porky’s,’ Dies at 64

Diego Ramos Bechara editor Tony Ganios, the comedic actor known for his turn as fan-favorite Meat in Bob Clark’s “Porky’s” and as Perry in Philip Kaufman’s 1979 coming-of-age comedy-drama “The Wanderers,” died Feb. 18 following surgery at a hospital in New York. He was 64.

Antiques Roadshow was left gobsmacked when an old watch he hadn’t seen for years racked up an impressive valuation.The popular BBC show visited Ham House in Richmond for a recent episode, when antiques expert Richard Price was tasked with examining a rare watch at the very end of the programme.Often, participants on the show share sentimental heirlooms, which they have no intention of parting with, but the guest this time around had little hesitation to sell when he heard that the antique was valued at £80,000.Richard began by confirming that the object was an Omega Speedmaster Professional, but he noted a subtle difference that made the watch “unusual and rather special”.To this end, Richard pointed out a mission logo on the clock’s face, signifying the Apollo-Soyuz mission, a joint venture to space involving both American and Russian astronauts in 1975.“Remember this was the height of the Cold War so this was a particular achievement to do this,” he explained.The guest explained that the watch had come into the family after his brother had bought it before he had died in a car crash shortly after.He recalled: “I was the only boy left in the family and my parents gave it to me… It’s not really my type of watch, I found it a bit heavy, a bit bulky, so I stuck it in a drawer and thought ‘well, it may well come in useful one day’, and eventually 20 years later I got it out.”Examining the watch and its accompanying paperwork, Richard estimated that the antique had been bought for roughly £300, and observed that it was “100% original”.“You don’t really love it that much do you?” he asked.“No, not really, it’s not really my type of thing and I still find it very heavy to wear,” the guest replied.So, when the expert revealed
