Acclaimed Spanish filmmakerPedro Almodóvar had his first major critical and commercial success internationally with the release of Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown in 1988.Now, more than 30 years laster, Apple is moving forward with a television adaption withJane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguezin the lead role of Pepa,who was originally portrayed by Carmen Maura.Sources close to the the Apple TV Plus project reveal the show will feature a mixture of both English and Spanish, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In development: Gina Rodriguez, 37, has been tabbed to star in the lead role of Pepa in a TV adaption ofPedro Almodóvar's classic 1988 film Women Of The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown for Apple TV Plus; the actress is pictured in January 2020 Along with her duties onscreen, Rodriguez, 37, will also executive produce alongside her I Can And I Will Productions partner Molly Breeskin.Almodóvar, 72, will alsoserve as executive producer of the show through his El Deseo production company, along with3Pas Studios' Eugenio Derbezand Ben Odell,while Sonia Gambaro will co-produce.
