Michele Amabile Angermiller Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Jack White, Fall Out Boy and Phoenix are among the acts set to perform at the sixth annual iHeartRadio Alter Ego event, scheduled for Jan. 14, 2023 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Also on the bill: Chvrches, Beach Weather and Rosa Linn. Alter Ego showcases artists in heavy rotation on iHeartRadio ALT 98.7. The lineup was revealed by morning host Woody on his Tuesday show. “After last year’s show I was pretty sure there was no getting better than that, but I was wrong,” said Woody. “With a line-up like this, how do you decide who goes on when? I’m glad that’s not my job! I’ll just be over here hosting.”  

Kevin Weatherly, the former program director at Los Angeles’ KROQ, who helped build the station to become a leading influence in alternative rock music nationally, is returning to the station as senior vice president of programming.He leaves Spotify, where he held the position of head of North American programming, after a little over two years, starting officially at the Audacy station on June 6. In March, Variety reported that Mike Kaplan had stepped down as program director at KROQ, the station he revamped after joining in 2020. KROQ had weathered major changes under Kaplan, who initially steered the station away from its rock and alternative roots towards more pop-leaning fare, riding the wave of TikTok-launched hits.

Shirley Halperin Executive Editor, MusicA new but familiar voice is coming to Los Angeles’ Alt 98.7. Starting Feb. 1, KROQ veteran Stryker is joining the station’s Chris Booker for “ALT Afternoons with Booker and Stryker,” airing weekdays from 3 p.m.

Fast-rising singer-songwriter Clairo has signed with Universal Music Publishing Group, in advance of her forthcoming second full-length album, “Sling,” which was co-produced by Jack Antonoff and marks her major-label debut (on the Fader label via UMG’s Republic Records). Now 22, Clairo’s (Claire Cottrill) success story began in 2017 when her song “Pretty Girl” went viral and made her a titan in the indie-sphere; it’s clocked more than 74 million YouTube views. Her debut EP “Diary 001” was followed by an album, “Immunity,” in 2019.
