International rights to the property were picked up by Barunson E&A, part of the Korean Barunson conglomerate that also produced Oscar-winning live-action film “Parasite.” “Yumi’s Cells: The Movie” is a 3D feature animation based on the popular Naver webtoon series of the same title that debuted in 2015. Production of the film is by Locus Animation (formerly Sidus Animation), which was previously responsible for “Red Shoes and Seven Dwarfs” and Studio N, a subsidiary of Naver Webtoon.

Netflix has announced the premiere date of its upcoming original K-drama Somebody.On October 4, Netflix unveiled the premiere date for the upcoming eight-episode crime-thriller series along with its first teaser clip. Somebody, which stars Kim Young-kwang (On Your Wedding Day) and rookie actress Kang Hae-lim will premiere exclusively on the streaming platform on November 18.The series will follow a young woman named Sum (played by Kang), a developer of a social connecting app called “Somebody”, as she gets caught up in a series of murders and crimes connected to the app.

Little Women.On September 6, the South Korean television network issued an official statement after being accused of plagiarising a design from a 2016 poster by Japanese cosmetics brand Shiseido in its own promotional poster for Little Women.“The concept of the poster was the three sisters walking toward the light with their shadows behind them. We relayed this to the company in charge of designing posters that then went over a series of samples before picking one.” said tvN per E-Daily, neither admitting to nor denying the allegations of plagiarism.However, the network appears to have acknowledged the resemblance between the two posters, adding: “In the future, we [will] be more thorough in our prior research and pay closer attention to small details.”Little Women, which stars actresses Kim Go-eun (Yumi’s Cells), Nam Ji-hyun (100 Days My Prince) and Park Ji-hu (All Of Us Are Dead), along with Squid Game’s Wi Ha-joon, aired its first two episodes over the weekend on tvN.
