Emmerdale will reach its 10,000th episode tonight, Wednesday, 22 May after beginning 53 years ago on 16 October 1972. Since its beginning, when the ITV soap was known as Emmerdale Farm, there have been 118 weddings, 49 births and 163 deaths.

The winners for the 2022 National Television Awards have been announced at a star-studded event in London.

Emmerdale ’s 50th anniversary celebration is edging closer and closer and star Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon Dingle, has revealed what’s in store will be nothing short of “sensational”.The village-based drama series is set to air special episodes and a one-off documentary featuring loved cast members, from both past and present, as they discuss and give tribute to the ITV programme. Mark, 53, gave a tease of what viewers can get excited for in the anniversary celebration as he spoke to OK! He revealed: “We’ve just been emailed them [the scripts].They’ve just arrived and it’s nothing short of sensational.” While nothing else was given away about the soap's 50th tribute, it has been shared that the upcoming documentary will include Emmerdale clips from significant plotlines and unearthed moments from the ITV archives never-seen-before by fans.
