EXCLUSIVE: Everybody Still Hates Chris, a reimagined animated version of Chris Rock’s beloved autobiographical family comedy Everybody Hates Chris, has received a straight-to-series order by MTV Entertainment. It will be windowed globally across streamer Paramount+ and sibling linear network Comedy Central. Rock is back as narrator and executive producer of the new series, which, like the original, is inspired by the comedian’s teenage years. CBS Studios and 3 Arts Entertainment, which produced Everybody Hates Chris and originally developed the animated reboot, will produce with MTV Entertainment Studios, which has been ramping up its adult animation portfolio with the recently announced Andy Samberg-produced series Digman! joining the Daria spinoff movie Jodie, both the film and series reboots of Beavis and Butt-Head as well as stalwart South Park.

Joe Otterson TV ReporterThe Marvel stop-motion animation series “M.O.D.O.K” has been canceled after one season at Hulu, Variety has learned.The series debuted back in May 2021 with 10 episodes. Patton Oswalt voiced the title character M.O.D.O.K, which stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.In the show M.O.D.O.K has long pursued his dream of one day conquering the world. But after years of setbacks and failures fighting the Earth’s mightiest heroes, he has run his evil organization A.I.M.

EXCLUSIVE: Comedy Central is launching the first new original series under ViacomCBS network’s current push in adult animation. Fairview, executive produced by Stephen Colbert and the team behind Paramount+’s Emmy-nominated Tooning Out the News and Showtime’s Our Cartoon President, will debut Feb. 9 at 8:30 pm, following South Park.

South Park may be getting a reboot for a host of new movies.A full length feature film of the animated adult series – South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut – was released in cinemas in 1999.Now, Grant Gish, ViacomCBS Entertainment and Youth Group’s new senior vice president of adult animation, has expressed an interest in making more movies and specials with creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.“As long as you’re doing something new, and that could be anything from a new style to a new tone to a new voice coming from a specific writer, I think it can work,” Gish told CNBC.“An animation audience is looking for something unique. That’s what The Simpsons and South Park have famously done.

He starts August 31.Adult animation has been a priority area for Entertainment & Youth Group President Chris McCarthy, originally at MTV Studios and more recently also at Comedy Central after he took oversight of the comedy-centric cable network in the post-Viacom-CBS merger restructuring late last year.
