EA has extended its contract with FIFPRO, the global representative for professional football players.The renewal announced via a press release yesterday is described as a “long-term commitment” for EA Sports to “continuing investment in the future of football, and further enables EA Sports to deliver the greatest, most authentic football experience to more than 150 million players globally.”This means EA will be able to continue using thousands of player names and likenesses supported by the FIFPRO licence agreement.

Liverpool fans have issued some fiery online responses following the announcement of some of their FIFA 22 player ratings. The game’s developer EA Sports have slowly been revealing player ratings in the run-up to the game’s release on October 1.And via the Reds’ Twitter account, the player ratings for Liverpool was published.Yet some fans in the replies on social media aren’t best pleased with ratings of three of their star players, namely Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Konstantinos Tsimikas.Salah, who was 90-rated in the previous installment, received an 89 rating for this year’s edition.Jota’s 80 rating was increased to 82, but some felt that was not enough.

EA have had to confirm that FIFA 22 will not have a one machine limit on PC, despite Steam saying otherwise.The Steam page listing for FIFA 22 had previously stated that the game would have a one machine limit due to 3rd party download rights management (DRM). This has since been updated to remove the line stating the limit.EA told Eurogamer that the line was an error.

EA has revealed that FIFA 22 Standard Edition will not include a free upgrade for next-gen consoles, with fans having to buy the Ultimate Edition instead.In an FAQ on their website, EA confirmed that the upgrade would not come as standard.FIFA 22’s Ultimate Edition is currently priced at £89.99 and is so far the only way to guarantee the game on both console generations. EA is steering players toward paid-for loot box options, despite the FIFA 21 publisher’s denial.In an interview with CBC News, an unnamed source has shared an internal document that purports to show EA pushing players into purchasing loot boxes, a practice that has recently been the subject of a much-publicised lawsuit. The document in question – a leaked 54-page presentation – appears to call the practice of purchasing loot boxes (the FIFA Ultimate Team mode, or FUT) the “cornerstone” of the game.
